Familiar Finish: Heath Captures 3000m Steeplechase Title at ECAC/IC4A Championships - SU AthleticsPublished by
PRINCETON, N.J. - Senior Kyle Heath highlighted the Orange efforts on Friday at the ECAC/IC4A Championships with a first-place time of 8:50.82 in the 3000m steeplechase. Heath paced the Syracuse men to a second-place standing and 18 points following day one, while the SU women rank 12th with four points. Heath, fresh off capturing the BIG EAST crown in the 3000m
steeplechase, continues a torrid track & field season. He owns the
Orange’s school record in the event with an NCAA Regional-qualifying
time of 8:48.60 at the Stanford Invitational. Additionally, Heath
anchored the men’s 4-by-mile relay to a third–place finish in the
Championship of America heat at the Penn Relays with a time 4:04.80.
During the indoor season, Heath tallied the program’s top time in
the mile with a tally of 4:01.68 at the Washington Last Chance Meet.
In addition to Heath, the Orange boasted three top 10 finishes in distance events. Junior Jeff Scull placed third in the 5000m run with a time of 14:17.42, while sophomore Dan Busby (14:23.64) finished seventh.
